Sustainsys was founded in 2017 by Anders Abel with the intention to build a sustainable business model for open source. The library now known as Sustainsys.Saml2 was already popular and was the source of some consulting work. Close to a decade later time has proven that the idea works. Sustainsys.Saml2 is still maintained without someone having to put in evenings and weekends. The combination of open source and commercial support has proven to be a sustainable model for system development.
Over the years, Sustainsys.Saml2 was often used together with the popular open-source OIDC Providers IdentityServer3 and Identityserver4. When the authors of IdentityServer started Duende Software to commercialize the product, Sustainsys worked with them to provide support, consulting and training services to Duende’s customers.
Sustainability is a core value to us and a sustainable business model also includes building sustainable relationships with customers. We want to be a long-term partner and advisor. When we've finished a project, we hand it over to the customer's team and move on. We don't believe in perpetually renewed full-time consulting assignments. But we are of course available for support when needed and we are happy to come back and help with any new projects.
We believe in a sustainable work-life balance too. We are 100% professional and dedicated when working, but outside of working hours we are 100% focused on all the other things that are important in our lives.
